An inactivity reminder pop-up would be very helpful before auto-logging out users. Managers have complained about reaching the end of a probation logbook entry, only to be logged out suddenly and lose all their information.
A pop-up box asking the user if they're still there, with 'yes' and 'no' options, would be great. Selecting 'yes' could reset the timer.

Yes, this is incredibly frustrating for example if you're part way through completing an exit interview logbook and are in discussion with the leaver. If you don't click save you lose all info and have to start from scratch. You can't re-run the interview so have to try and remember what they said. A work around is to save it and go back in but we shouldn't need to find workarounds.
We have been having the same issue and I was told by support that typing doesn't count as being active so it still logged people out
