Ability to run a query on future work patterns

Annually we have a significant number of changes to work patterns, and these are effective at the same time (beginning of September) I like the feature of being able to set up a future work pattern change but there is no way of running a report to check where there are multiple changes coming up. At the moment you cannot use the filter on effective date for future dates, seems this should be an easy change to the system to allow this.
