It would be useful for job effective dates to actually work rather than immediately apply these. Historic job roles are an issue on query builder making it hard to show previous and new roles.

I agree, this is a fundamental gap in the functionality and poor. Just found out the hard way, trying to be proactive and put a future change into the system but have had to change it back and diarise it manually. Not good.
I agree... with contract amendments the change to the job role is done before the effective date. Having to set up an outlook reminder to change someone's job role ion the effective date in a HRIS doesn't make sense.
I think this is a very necessary addition as the other fields which get updated with a contract amendment all have effective dates, yet this one changes immediately. Doesn't make a lot of sense if this one does not match the others. Thank you!
