Shouldn't need to be working days between sickness absences for it to record two instances

If there aren't any working days between two sickness absences then it gets recorded as 1 instance. However if someone if someone is off sick and then has a two day holiday and then phone's in sick with something else, it only records as one instance. Furthermore, we had someone who off sick for a week then had a weeks holiday, came back to work for half a day and then went off sick again, but this only registered as 1 instance (as the half working day wasn't enough to separate the sickness)

I agree. I have has employee sick on Monday due to toothache and on Monday due to food poisoning. those would be 2 different instances and should be reflected as such. Maybe a field of 'continuous absence' or 'separate absence' should be available for system to record the 2 different types of sick as separate or not?
