Dashboard auto refresh

When logging into the system for me it seems madness that the dashboard doesn't auto refresh and i have to manually do this. if i don't it appears that the incorrect amount of people are on holiday or off sick. Our MD looked at this on a banned period and it seemed that we had 5 on holiday and he wasn't happy but the fact he has to manually refresh he wasn't happy about. i need this sorting asap ideally or we will be looking at changing platforms. It seems such a simple task but one that doesnt happen automatically.
