Continuous Sickness Period

When managers are inputting sickness, if the date is next to a sickness date, can a pop up be presented on screen to ask the manager if this is a continuing sickness period? If so please edit the sickness enter that is currently in there and amend the dates. We find managers don't know this all the time and are adding separate dates in one after another for the same sickness period, which then looks lie the employee has had multiple periods when really it is only 1 sickness period. This would make reporting a lot more accurate.
